YourXX (2021) — YourXX is a huge project I worked on for more than a year and that it has grown to be a key tool in the digitalisation of Levis. Levis used to have a manual selling process centred in their physical showrooms and it was becoming too inefficient lagging behind the competition. We were tasked to digitally transformed this process to gain efficiency and allow Levis to focus more on fashion and less on spreadsheets.

Now in 2022 the project continuous to grow into more markets and more capabilities are added and I can't be more proud to have researched, designed and launched a product so influential.

Summary video the YourXX project which I also designed and directed

YourXX has been deployed all over the world and has completely transformed the way collections are sold and assortments are negotiated. I worked in this project as design lead in a multidisciplinary team of researchers, experience designers, product designers and developers that varied from ten to twenty depending on the phase. I was lucky enough to be there from the very start which allowed me to deepen the relations with Levis and branch out into other digitalisation work for Levis like LS&CO or YourXX Showroom.

YourXX Stories editor experience

Nothing can make up for touching real denim in real life but how to blend it with the YourXX digital experience?

We proposed to progressively enhance the physical experience by offering the right information only when the user requested it. We leaned on physical and added digital only when it made sense.

We relied on a simple cloud stack and QR codes that allowed the client to launch new showrooms faster and cheaper.

Demo for screen interaction

Clients will do most of the assortment work through the digital tool but nothing can make up for touching real denim in real life. The physical showroom had to remain central to the Levis experience but how should it adapt to YourXX?

I worked directing a very well received proposal to digitise the physical showroom with YourXX as mediator. We proposed a blend of physical and digital to enhance the experience and offer the right information only when the user requested it. We used the best of the physical and added digital only when it made sense.

We also created a product implementation system that allowed for gradual deployment which allowed the client to launch new showrooms faster and cheaper.

Daisie (2019) — I was lucky enough to be part of the team that launched the first iteration of Daisie, a social network for creatives. In less than a year we were able to create a consistent and solid experience in web and mobile that allowed creators to launch projects, form communities and find like minded creators anywhere in the world.

I was able to make a big impact in almost every aspect of the product from ideation to articulation to final delivery. Of course the most impactful achievement was that users loved Daisie and real creative projects and teams were indeed generated.

This is the project where I could put to the test all the lessons I have learnt over the years on branding, system thinking, UX, graphic design and team work and I think it was a success. Creating creative social networks is great fun and it pays off.

Saffron Brand Consultants Corporate Website (2017) — I designed Saffron's website as a modular, future-proof and work-first tool. I also lead the project and run co-creation sessions, instantiated a lean process of continuous improvement and coordinated the build.

This project won the a GERMAN DESIGN AWARD 2018 in the digital category.

Levi’s Retail Insights (2021) — I worked on UX and visual for this web mobile app that served as a KPI check for retail managers. The technical limitations were very high as the device provided by the company was a very small iPod touch however, the results of the product were extremely positive. 90% of managers were using then app at least once a day and reported seeing it as indispensable to their work. In 2022 the app was still in use and widening its reach to more continents.

I designed the MVP for Yuup a startup helping small British businesses sell not just products but experiences. We worked with the founders researching their business users and app users to create a web that one year later has grown into a full business that is changing life in Bristol.

Canon’s White Branded Photobook iOS App (2016) — I designed this app allows users to create a high quality photobooks faster.

Most Photobook apps of the time asked so many questions up-front that getting a decent book took at least 20 minutes. I challenge myself to help users create a beautiful book that made sense in less than a minute.

I worked alongside developers devising systems that would allow us to leverage iOS services to create, sort and select the most relevant stories and pictures for the user.

Since there was no on-device AI at the time, we created a heuristic-based point system to find memory photo clusters that allowed us to create photo books in one tap.

After the successful release of the mobile photobook building app, I focused on a desktop version of the app. We kept the same functionality but the outlook of the app was different since the user could and wanted to have a longer book building session.

LOPEZ GALÁN Lopez Galán website (2008) — Lopez Galán is an architect with a 40 year career who, in the later years of his career, decided to create a very special showcase of his best work. I was lucky enough to take this project for my small studio and thanks to it I grabbed a NATIONAL LAUS BRONZE AWARD.

Reflecting such long career in a succinct but truthful manner was the big challenge. I decided to focus the experience on two simple goals: reflecting the long span of his career and displaying only his last works in an honest way. To achieve this I based the experience on a super simple playful timeline navigation that would let his works speak for themselves. The final piece became a microsite that reiterated the idea of a long but still active and fresh career.

Jacobo García Germán (2009) — I built other websites on the back of the engine I built for Lopez Galán. My favourite being the website of great architect and good friend Jacobo.

AcesinH (2006) — The name is a play with words that can roughly be translated as "Do without the D". I designed and coded this piece with Flash and ActionScript 2.

Imperial College Business School and KPMG’s Data Club (2016) — Data Club is a massive initiative by the Imperial College Business School and KPMG to bring the latest academic research in big data to business.I worked as part of the OPX team as lead visual designer, concept, dev link and co-UX to create a website that demystifies the latest scientific research in big data through clear story-telling and rich but simple visuals.

Science Group (2016) — Science Group is a publicly traded, advanced R&D company with a big portfolio in a tight brand system. They needed to renew their whole web presence following the same cohesive brand approach.

The solution was based in one solid interactive language across all brands that helped solidify the brand perception and ease the user experience. The production was also based on a single modular approach that, despite requiring complex prototyping, careful dev planning and smart design, delivered great results.

The result is four successful massive websites on a tight budget and timeframe, one single modular system capable of achieving unique goals and a single coherent brand system and interactive language.

Imperial College (2015) — Interactive guidelines manual. Probably the latest experience guidelines I have ever done in PDF.

Crafts Council app concept (2011) —Product and UX design for the Crafts council. The briefing asked for a promotional app that could engage users with the mission of Crafts council. We created, in a few weeks, an app that allowed users to design and send a unique christmas card using the works of Christmas council's artists.

La Casa Encendida (2006) — This was the first big UX project I did back in 2006 for Base design Madrid. I worked on information architecture, user experience design, concept development and a lot of consulting work for lacasaencendida.es.

I took this project in 2006 as my first serious UX project and it was a challenging project with big brand and UX teams, super strict guidelines and technical documentation but it was more than worth it, this project opened my mind to UX.
